September 26, 1983: David creates a flier for a demonstration in Union Square protesting the September 15, 1983 arrest and alleged beating of beloved graffiti artist Michael Jerome Stewart by transit police.
Stewart was taken into custody for writing graffiti by five transit officers who delivered him to Bellevue Hospital half an hour later unconscious and without a pulse. He remained in a coma at the time of the demonstration and died of his fourteen days after his arrest.
