In 1991, David shows his work in eighteen exhibits worldwide include the Whitney Biennial featuring his Sex Series and one of his flower paintings. He creates his last photograph “Untitled (Face in Dirt)” (with friend Marion Scemama), gives his last reading (to benefit ACT UP’s needle exchange program) and his last performance (ITSOFOMO with Ben Neil).

David loses more friends to AIDS: filmmaker Phil Zwickler, poet Michael Morais, and cabaret organizer Haoui Montaug, David spends Christmas in the hospital.
