David Wojnarowicz invitation for benefit following the death of graffiti artist Michael Jerome Stewart, October 1983
October 3, 1983: David creates a flier for a fundraiser at Danceteria to benefit the family of slain graffiti artist Michael Stewart. Stewart died days earlier following his arrest and alleged beating by five New York transit police.
The 25 year old aspiring artist was the son of a retired transit worker who, like David, once worked as a busboy at the Pyramid Club.
