October 2, 1987: The New York Times reviews David’s “The Four Elements” exhibit at Gracie Mansion Gallery. Reviewer Michael Brenson writes, “From the collage paintings called :the Four Elements,” it is clear that reports of the demise of David Wojnarowicz have been greatly exaggerated.” He concludes “Creation and destruction, love and death are inseparable. It is a familiar story in modern art, but in the hands of a poet, it is always worth listening to again.”
