November 10, 1989: David’s friend, actress and writer Cookie Mueller, dies of AIDS-related pneumonia at age 40 leaving a young son. Mueller wrote a health column, “Ask Dr. Mueller,” for The East Village Eye, was an art critic for Details magazine, and appeared in five of John Waters’s early films.
