May 1985: David is selected by Creative Time to create display art in a public space. With the help of friends Steve Doughton and Philip Zimmerman, he creates Installation #5, an assemblage of found garbage and painted skeletons installed at Art in the Anchorage at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge. The installation, in a windowless room with fifty-foot-tall vaulted ceilings, depicts a family dinner in hell which David asserts is based on his childhood.
