January 18, 1990: David’s friend Montana Hewson, HIV positive, commits suicide in Texas, at age 38.

David worked with Hewson at the Peppermint Lounge. They both appeared in the film You Killed Me First, by Richard Kern. Hewson is the subject of the last chapter of David’s memoir Close to the Knives: A Memoir of Disintegration, based on interviews with friends and acquaintances.
