May, 1982: Dean Savard and Alan Barrows open Civilian Warfare studio, at 526 East 11th Street. Soon afterward, David and his friend Keith Davis create a painting for their storefront. The studio grows into a gallery showing the work of David Wojnarowicz, Luis Frangella, Judy Glantzman, Greer Lankton, Betsy Rosenwald, Kathleen Thomas, and others.
