March 18, 1992: U2 chooses Untitled (Falling Buffalos) as the cover art for their single “One” (later released on their album Achtung Baby). The liner notes read “[Wojnarowicz] identifies himself and ourselves with the buffalo, pushed into the unknown by forces we cannot control or even understand.” U2 dedicates all royalties from the single to AIDS research. On March 18, the band invites him to a concert at the Meadowlands where they meet and dedicate a song to him. They later pay for all of David’s private nursing.
