Poet Michael Morais
June 1991: Poet Michael Morais, David’s friend, dies of HIV/AIDS-related illness, at age 45. Morais lived on Brooklyn’s Court Street with poet Dennis Deforge and edited rivverrun (Brooklyn College’s literary journal), publishing David’s poetry. They continued their relationship via correspondence when Morais moved to Montreal, around 1976, where he continued to explore writing plays, short stories and poems, and create art.
