September 1, 1985: David is featured in one of Timothy Greenfield-Sanders’s six group portraits of “The New Irascibles” (artists, dealers, critics) in Arts magazine—including Futura 2000, Mark Kostabi, Kiki Smith, Colin de Land, Pat Hern, Robert Pincus-Witten, and Carlo McCormick.
The portraits were based on Nina Leen’s iconic 1951 photograph of abstract expressionists, including Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, and Robert Motherwell, which Hedda Sterne, the only woman in the portrait, dubbed “The Irascibles.”
