May, 1977: David meets photographer Louis Cartwright in a laundromat. Cartwright introduces David to the original Beat poet Herbert Huncke who appears as a character in the writing of William S. Burroughs, Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. David comes to see Huncke as a role model who will go on to introduce David to William S. Burroughs.
