DECEMBER, 1973: David moves in and out of a halfway house on the Upper West Side of Manhattan between the fall of 1971 and sometime in 1973. In late 1973 or early ’74, David lives on the farm of Paul and Jane Braun, near Plattsburgh, New York, a few miles from the Canadian border. Shoots his first roll of film he labels “first photos awful” which includes a first self-portrait.
