New York, NY – The David Wojnarowicz Foundation today announced its inaugural Wojnarowicz Fellow. This semester-long appointment is for a student of the visual arts who will support the development of public materials and advance the Foundation mission to preserve, advance and honor the legacy of David Wojnarowicz.

The appointment is to Grace Healy, an undergraduate student in Drawing at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.
“We are delighted to have Grace Healy join us for this upcoming semester,” said Anita Vitale, Board Chair of the Wojnarowicz Foundation. “She’ll be playing an important role as we launch new initiatives that continue to tell the stories of David’s life and his lasting impact thirty years after his death.”
David Wojnarowicz (1954–1992) was an accomplished artist, writer, and activist. The David Wojnarowicz Foundation advances the understanding of his work through scholarship, exhibitions, and publications. The Foundation is created to inspire and foster a new generation of queer artists and writers to find their voice, pursue their truth and to continue the activism that so defined David Wojnarowicz’s life and art. Through scholarships and grants, The Foundation will assist both organizations and individuals that support these ideals.
Vitale said that the Foundation planned to initially name two fellows each calendar year to work on legacy-driven projects and outreach.
“In addition to bringing her own keen visual talents to the Foundation, Grace is part of a generation of young artists and activists continuing to discover and embrace David’s creative power, voice, and commitment to others,” she added.
