Currier Museum of Art

The Currier Museum of Art holds David Wojnarowicz’s photographic triptych, “Untitled, 1987,” in its collection. The images feature David’s mentor, photographer Peter Hujar, moments after his death of AIDS.  “Everything I made, I made for Peter,” Wojnarowicz once said.

Immediately after Peter’s death, David photographed his friend’s face, hands, and feet. He recorded “this body of my friend on the bed, this body of my brother, my father, my emotional link to the world” as an homage to Hujar’s own style of portraiture.
