“David Wojnarowicz: Tongues of Flame,” the first retrospective of David’s work (curated by Barry Blinderman) opens at University Galleries, Illinois State University, Normal, IL. and travels throughout the country.
His solo show “In the Garden” opens at P·P·O·W, featuring flower paintings David created in Normal. He also exhibits his Arthur Rimbaud in New York series for the first time.
David mourns the loss of several more friends who die of AIDS related illness and suicide: actor Montana Hewson, gallerist Dean Savard, performer Ethyl Eichelberger, and painter Luis Frangella.
